hehe! Makes such perfect sense. I used to get confused when I dropped furniture by trees when I first played Animal Crossing. I'm all, WHERES MY FURNITURE!? and i go by it, and it says the furnitures name. I think ohh....

And the reason they are leaves is due to the mythology of the Tanooki(which Tom Nook's name is a play on) Tanooki's have to use leaves to tranform(think Mario Bros. 3) so chances are good that's the reason Tom gives out the leaves in Animal Crossing.

If it is a comment like these then I don't think it will matter, otherwise like in the actual comic... probably better without it.
