The Hookshot/Clawshot/Switchook has all those names. This is the one item that Nintendo can't seem to make up their minds about when it comes to the name, so it's not always the same for each game.

I have never seen a game where it was called a switchook!

Technically, each name that Nintendo has used for each incarnation of the Hookshot actually means that each weapon is a different version with its own unique abilities.

The "Hookshot" is a weapon of sorts that impales things like wood and pulls the user (Link) to them. It MURDERS some enemies in Ocarina of Time, like those big ol' Moblins in the Maze before the Forest Temple. One hit, "BAM!" they're gone!

The "Clawshot" grapples a target (like in those obnoxious crane games) and either pulls them to the user, or in the case of an immobile object like a pillar, pulls the user towards them.

The "Switchhook" is the weirdest of the bunch, as it somehow magically switches the user with the object it grapples to and often results in the object's destruction as witnessed in "Zelda: Oracle of Ages".

...I play too much Zelda... -_-

You know, when I read the last panel, completely different subject popped into my mind.

The Switchhook also has two versions, one short and one long (called the Longshot). You get the short one and then upgrade it to the long one later in the game.[I believe.]
-I feel for you link! I've had the switchhook be too short for me too.

I think all of them upgraded to the Longshot, and It was hookshot in OoT
